Youth Programs
When we meet and what we do at the meetings
The youth group meets on Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m. and in Sunday School every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. On Wednesday nights, the group usually takes time to worship through music, prayer, and the study of the Word. Plus, there is usually some sort of game activity on Wednesday nights and sometimes food. On Sundays, the group spends most of the time in Bible study and prayer. The Bible studies are meant to be interactive. Many times, they develop into interesting discussions.
Monthly activities
There are many activities that take place involving the youth group. There is at least one fun activity scheduled every month in the youth group. Every other month, there is a fun activity dedicated to just the middle school and a fun activity dedicated to just the high school. These are usually fun outings, such as going midnight bowling, going to see a movie, getting together a football game at the park, going to a Redbirds game, having a bonfire, having a game night up at the church, etc
Special Events
Every year the youth try to attend several special events: some of which are spiritual in nature and some that are just fun special events. Some of the spiritual events that the youth take place in are: youth conferences such as Dare2Share, Student Life, or Extreme, spiritual retreats and lock-ins, and service activities such as picking up trash at Brighton Park as an act of service to the community, visiting shut-ins, Christmas caroling, etc. Some of special fun events that take place at Brighton Baptist are: lock-ins, ski trips, trips to Six Flags, camping and canoeing trips, etc.
Youth Camp
Every Summer, the youth group takes a trip to summer camp. This is usually a week long trip that is taken in late June. We have gone to camps such as Mission-Fuge, PowerPlant, and Lake Forest Ranch. This year, we are going to Student Life camp at Windemere Conference Center at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. The youth group usually does two fundraisers in a year in order to help support the cost of the camp.
The Youth Praise Band
The youth band was started by
former youth minister Brandon Lyndsey
and has continued on up until this point. The youth praise
band plays every Wednesday night during the youth meeting and on the
last Sunday of each month
